The final round was held on 26 July at the Intercontinental Citystars Hotel in the Saraya Ballroom and Ain Shams University’s Enactus team was crowned the 2022 Enactus Egypt National Champion, qualifying them to represent Egypt at the 2022 Enactus World Cup in Puerto Rico, which will be held from 30 October to 2 November 2022.

Sixty-six Enactus teams from across Egypt participated in the 2022 Enactus Egypt National Competition in the presence of 1,200 university students representing 44 national Egyptian and private universities to present the results of their development projects in accordance with the arbitration criteria of increasing business, innovation, and sustainable development.

The teams came together to showcase their social impact efforts and compete based on the quality of their entrepreneurial projects that provide an innovative, sustainable impact on their community, the planet, and prosperity.

Enactus Egypt won the Enactus World Cup five times in 2009, 2010, as well as 2019, 2020, and 2021.

Notably, Enactus Egypt was recognised by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi at the World Youth Forum in Sharm El-Sheikh.

Enactus Egypt began its journey in 2004, and by 2019, has established programmes in 52 universities with 6,700 active student members from different Egyptian governorates. Enactus Egypt’s mission is to be the best known and key strategic partner with leading businesses in Egypt to empower communities through enterprise education and develop leaders who will create a better world through business.

Enactus also has a vision to create a better and more sustainable community and to engage the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders to use innovation and business principles for the improvement of the Egyptian community.

Its journey has taken young people through various exciting and rewarding experiences in which they have changed the lives of many individuals.

Last year, Enactus students around the world helped launch 3,000 small businesses through their projects. These experiences not only transformed the lives of the people the projects serve, but also helped the students develop the kind of talent and perspective essential to leadership that sees challenges facing the people and planet as opportunities to improve the world.

Sixty-six university teams competed in Enactus Egypt’s local competition with the support of Citi Foundation.

Mohamed Abdel Kader, Citi Foundation’s CEO for Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa said: “The partnership with Enactus is part of the Citi Foundation’s Pathways to Progress Initiative that is designed to equip urban youths with career readiness tools and opportunities to thrive in today’s economy. We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Enactus to help Egyptian youths build financial and workplace skills.”

This year Citi Foundation and Enactus joined forces and launched the first phase of the social entrepreneurship programme ‘[email protected]’ in Egypt, for the first time. The [email protected] Programme aims to engage 2,500 students between 18 and 25 years old to develop the business skills necessary to transform social impact projects into start-ups through training and mentoring support.

[email protected] helps young people aged 18-25 who lack access to empowerment opportunities to create income-generating economic, social, and environmental projects. The project uses a grassroots approach to recruit and mobilise high potential, underserved youth from low- and middle-income backgrounds and transform them into entrepreneurs who start and grow their own projects.

Citi Foundation’s aim is to promote economic progress and improve the lives of individuals in low-income communities around the world. The foundation invests in efforts that enhance financial inclusion, catalyse employment opportunities for youths, and reinvent approaches to shape economically vibrant cities.

Enactus — a non-profit organisation — is the largest experiential learning platform dedicated to creating a better world while developing the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders and social innovators.

It is a network of global business, academic, and student leaders unified by a vision to create a better, more sustainable world. The organisation also provides a platform for NextGen Leaders to develop leadership skills while working with top companies worldwide.

In 2019, Enactus projects impacted 1.3 million lives, helped launch 3,000 small businesses, and eliminated 5.9 million tons of CO2, plus 819,699 women gained new skills to advance economic equality.

Each year, every Enactus National Organisation arranges a competition and invites business executives to select the winners based on who has the most impact in empowering people in need.

The winner advances to the highest level of competition representing its country at the Enactus World Cup, which is hosted annually by a different country.
