A Netflix production, the psychological drama is based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates, released in 2000 with the same title.
According to Netflix brief, the film is a "boldly reimagined fictional portrait" of the star, unveiling Norma Jean, the person underneath all the glamour.
The official trailer of the film has been released by Netflix yesterday stating the release date to be 28 September, moving it from the previously announced 23 September.
The film stars Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe, alongside Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, Xavier Samuel, and Julianne Nicholson.
The 2h 46mins film is directed by Andrew Dominik, who also wrote the screenplay.
