Zamalek president Mortada Mansour said on Wednesday that his club have now all the financial capacities that meet the needs of the club’s football team.

Zamalek

Zamalek suffered from persistent financial crises during the past few years as they seemed incapable of keeping their stars such as Tunisian midfielder Ferjani Sassi and Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki who left the club in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

But Mansour came to assure that the current situation is completely different to the past.

“The club has now all the financial capabilities. We could sign any player even from Real Madrid.”, Mansour told a news conference on Wednesday.

According to Mansour, the club has now around EGP 250 million ($13 million) without counting Mahmoud ‘Kahraba’ Abdel-Moneam's sanction and the sponsoring revenues.

Kahraba who joined Ahly in January 2020 should pay Zamalek around $2.4 million after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) imposed a sanction on him after unilaterally terminating his contract with Zamalek.

Zamalek are now leading the league table with 66 points, seven points ahead of second-placed Pyramids FC, and 11 clear of Ahly who still have two matches on hand.
