“El-Nahas and the all the technical staff members have submitted their resignation after Ahly game. The board has started an intense search to find a replacement,” read a statement by the coastal club via facebook.
“The new coach name will be announced within the coming 24 hours,” the statement added.
After Sunday’s loss to Ahly, Ittihad lie 13th in the 18-team table with 33 points, six clear of the relegation zone.
In late March, the 46-year old El-Nahas, who previously coached The Arab Contractors and Aswan sides, took charge of a struggling Ittihad from veteran coach Hossam Hassan
However, under his guidance, the team failed to turn around their fortunes in the second half of the season, winning just once in the last six matches.
