Spokesman for the foreign ministry Ahmed Hafez said that this call comes as a follow-up to their May meeting that was held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The two officials lauded the level of cooperation and consultation between Egypt and China on climate-related issues at bilateral and multilateral levels, he said.

Hafez added that Egypt is looking forward to high-level participation from the Chinese side at the conference, which will contribute to the desired outcome of the COP27.

Zhenhua and Shoukry agreed to continue the consultation and coordination between the two countries until the launch of COP27 in November, Hafez added.
