The first term of the academic year for all public, private, language, and experimental schools, as well as Al-Azhar educational system school and technical education school, will start on 1 October, the ministry announced.

Newly appointed Minister of Education Reda Hegazy has unified the start of the school year for all schools in Egypt with the exception of international schools, the ministry said.

International schools that follow foreign educational systems like the IGCSE, American diploma, and French education system will start the academic year on 18 September 2022.

The education ministry did not state whether the exams for the first terms would be postponed accordingly.

In July, former education minister Tarek Shawki announced that the first term of the academic year for all public, private, language, and experimental schools would end on 26 January 2023, with the mid-year vacation starting on 28 January.
