Arsenal s Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny
The team is still assessing the extent of the injury, according to the sports website.
The Gunners, however, have not confirmed the reports.
The 30-year-old Egyptian international played the full 90 minutes in the 2-1 win over the Cottagers on Saturday, making his first league appearance for the Gunners in four league matches played so far this season.
An Elneny injury would add more woes to the Arsenal midfield that is already suffering the absence of Thomas Partey who has been out with a muscular injury.
“The loss of Elneny could have implications for Arsenal’s transfer plans in what remains of the window [that ends on Thursday]. The club had previously been focused on signing a new wide forward,” the Athletic UK said.
“Elneny’s setback may see Arsenal pivot to pursue a recruit in his area of the pitch. It is thought financial considerations would make it difficult to buy both a winger and a midfielder in the coming days,” the report concluded.
Since joining from Swiss side Basel in 2016, Elneny has made 148 appearances since joining Arsenal, scoring five goals and providing 10 assists.
