Fri 2, 9am and Sat 3, 6pm: The International Language Assessment Conference in Egypt (ILACE) is proudly offered through a partnership between the British Council and the American University in Cairo. This year’s theme is “Reimagining Assessment in an Ever-changing Educational Landscape”. Education and assessment are no exception. The new reality has come with many changes. Those changes sometimes challenge educators and the entire educational system, but many of those challenges have been transformed into great opportunities.
Hot issues such as using technology in assessment, high-stakes exams, test designs, and inclusive assessments are increasing daily interest. ILACE 2022 is keen to shine a light on these issues during this year’s conference. ELT practitioners and assessment specialists will discuss and share their expertise in various critical areas: test development and design, online assessment, assessment literacy, artificial intelligence in language assessment, alternative assessment, and learning-oriented assessment. Visit the conference link here https://sites.google.com/view/ilace/home
Entrance fees:100 EGP. To register for the conference, please book your ticket from here: https://sites.google.com/view/ilace/registration

Mon 5, 6.30-8pm (Doors close at 6:30 pm sharp): In November 2022, Egypt will host the 27th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP27) in Sharm el-Sheikh, the leading global forum on climate change. As COP27 President, great attention is paid to Egypt's role in advancing climate action and negotiating more equitable and responsible climate action. In this talk, special representative of COP27 President-Designate and Former Chair of the G77+ China for the Climate Change Process Wael Aboulmagd will discuss the significance of COP27 for Egypt’s inclusive economic development path as well as Egypt’s agenda and goals for the global meet. Aboulmagd will also shed light on how the global community can translate climate gains made through the conference into opportunities for the more vulnerable and marginalized in society.
Wed 7, 7-8pm: “Valuing Tomorrow: Beyond the ESG Feeding Frenzy” in this session of the Gerhart Centre Webinar Series, founder and chief pollinator at Volans, one of the founders of the global sustainability movement, and experienced business advisor John Elkington, who coined the term Triple Bottom Line, will discuss the past, present and future of capitalism, value and wealth with senior research fellow at the University of Heidelberg’s Center on Social Investing in Germany Jed Emerson. The latter coined the term Blended Value. Their work underpinned the ESG movement, but they have critical - and constructive - things to say about how the debate has fragmented into often siloed discussions about purpose, CSR, ESG, impact, circularity, climate, and green growth and the like. Is it time for a remarkable convergence between these different change agendas? And if so, how can we make it happen?
