Rap is still proving to be the favourite choice for Egyptian users on the Swedish audio streaming platform Spotify, with Wegz topping the summer streams.

Spotify has unveiled Wegz’s El Bakht, the romantic heartbreak tune released in February, as 2022's song of the summer.

Moreover, Wegz’s earlier hit B3ouda Ya Bilady was listed as Egypt's fourth most streamed song.

Fellow rapper Marwan Moussa made it to second and third place with Aloomek and Batal 3alam, respectively. Spotify described his success as “a huge splash this season.”

Brrr Brrr Brrr, the rap collaboration of Abu El Anwar, Marwan Pablo and Lil Baba, took fifth place.

"The sound of the youth is being heard in every corner throughout the summer, we are very pleased to see Egyptian rap continuing to grow and become the soundtrack of the summer," said Spotify's Head of Music for the MENA Region Mark Abou Jaoude on Wednesday.

Rap continued to dominate the world's leading streaming platform in Egypt, indicating most users in Egypt are youth, who constitute the genre's main fanbase.
