Coach Hossam Hassan hopes to land Mido

The return of Egyptian striker Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido’ to Zamalek could fall through as the club is short of cash.

“We were expecting to get some help from (Mamdouh) Abbas but he said he will cut the amount of Mido’s contract from the club’s debts. We need cash to complete the deal and so we will have to look elsewhere,” Zamalek football director Ibrahim Hassan told Ahram Online.

Businessman and former Zamalek president, Abbas has already stated that he will finance Mido’s deal to strengthen the team in January.

The 28-year old striker arrived in Cairo last Wednesday and was expected to put pen to paper on Saturday, but now he and the club have only six days before the end of the transfer window in which to complete the deal.

The former Tottenham, Roma and Marseille player has decided to end an 11-year European journey to return home after spending the past six months at Ajax Amsterdam.
