During an interview with Al-Ahram Sports magazine the 28-year-old attacker expressed his pleasure for wearing the Ahly jersey, confirming it is a big step in his career to play in the "biggest team in Africa."

“My target is to win the CAF Champions League title with Ahly to participate in the Club World Cup,” Savio said.

“For sure, all competitions are important for me and I am happy to play for a team who compete for all titles,” he added.

The Cairo giants announced the signing of the Brazilian winger from Bolivia's Club Bolivar on a three-year contract.

“The Egyptian Premier League is a tough competition. There are big teams fighting for the title, so I know our mission in the new season will be difficult,” the Brazilian star added.

The Brazilian winger said that he knew about Ahly a long time ago due to the club’s previous participation at the FIFA Club World Cup, adding that he hopes to play in such a world competition.

“I watched Ahly several times at the FIFA Club World Cup. It is a dream for any player to play in such a world competition, and I also hope to play in the CAF Champions League,” he said.

Ahly, who are looking to bolster their squad after another disappointing season saw them finish third in the Egyptian Premier League, signed deep-lying forward Shady Hussein from fellow top-flight side Ceramica Cleopatra during the ongoing summer transfer window.

Savio enjoyed one of his best seasons last term, scoring 16 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions as Club Bolivar won the domestic league title.

The Brazilian star had stints with several Brazilian sides, including Guarani, Bragantino, Cuiaba, and America Mineiro. All in all, he netted 33 goals in 141 appearances.
