Shoukry's remarks came during a meeting of the liaison group Thursday on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting was held within the framework of the Arab mediation effort to develop a diplomatic solution to the Ukraine crisis, read a statement by the Egyptian foreign ministry.
The Egyptian foreign minister reviewed the impact of the Russia-Ukraine crisis on food security and fuel prices for countries in the region, according to the statement.
The meeting was attended by Ahmed Abul-Gheit, the secretary-general of the Arab League, and Sergey Lavrov, the foreign minister of Russia.
Lavrov welcomed in his remarks at the meeting the Arab group’s endeavours to settle the crisis.
The Egyptian FM called for formulating a vision to overcome the crisis through dialogue, trust building measures and diplomatic tracks.
The liaison group was formed in March during the 157th session of the Council of the Arab League to tackle the impacts of the Ukraine crisis on the Arab region.
The group includes representatives from Egypt, Jordan, Algeria, Iraq, Sudan and the UAE – a current member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
In April, the liaison group held talks with Russia’s Lavrov in Moscow and Ukrainian FM Dmytro Kuleba in Warsaw in an attempt to forge a diplomatic solution to the crisis.
Egypt has repeatedly called for a political solution to the crisis based on dialogue and warned of the global crisis’ impact on the Arab countries in the political, security and economic levels.
