President El-Sisi told the Pakistani Prime Minister that Egypt has allocated humanitarian aid to contribute to the relief efforts in the crisis the Pakistani people are currently facing, according to the presidency.

El-Sisi also praised the historical relations between Egypt and Pakistan, adding that he looks forward to developing bilateral relations with Pakistan and exchanging expertise in all fields and consulting on different regional issues as well as issues of common interest, the statement read.

From his side, PM Sharif expressed his thanks to President El-Sisi and the Egyptian people for their support for Pakistan asserting the depth of the relations between the two friendly countries and peoples.

He added that he is looking forward to more cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of climate change as Egypt is set to host the 27th UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh from 6-18 November.

Seasonal monsoon rains and melting glaciers that followed a severe heat wave in Pakistan this summer caused unprecedented floods that covered a third of the country since June, killing over 1,000 people in what is considered the worst natural disaster in the history of the country.

Pakistani officials have linked the cause of that heat wave and melting glaciers to the impact of climate change.
