The club confirmed in the statement, which was issued on its official website, that Barry's transfer to Future FC is the biggest in the history of both Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and the USL Championship.

According to the league's policy, the details of the transfer will not be announced before approval from the league and the federation.

Future FC have not yet announced the deal.

The 29-year old striker joined Colorado Springs in January 2021 and participated in 63 games, scored 41 goals and made 14 assists.

Barry, who played twice for Guinea, is expected to arrive in Cairo in the next few hours to join Future FC as the new season kicks off in Egypt on 17 October.

“Hadji Barry is a Switchbacks legend after just two seasons. Agreeing to his transfer at this moment in the season is the hardest decision I’ve been a part of. Barry has contributed even more than goals and assists to our organisation. His relentless drive and strong character have helped inspired us to be a better organisation in the process. We wish Hadji nothing but the best in his future endeavours,” said Switchbacks FC President Nick Ragain.

Future FC made a big impact in their maiden season in the Premier League, finishing fourth to book a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in their history.

“Opportunities like this don’t come often, so it was an easy decision for me to make, but bittersweet at the same time, because I really love this club, I love the organisation, love my coaching staff, my teammates. I wouldn’t be the player I am today without these guys, But God usually has other plans [for us] and we can’t question that sometimes,” Barry said about the life changing decision.
