FOR THE FIRST time since May, Egypt lost its leadership in the first place rankings in the men’s world squash rankings. Ali Farag dropped to second place as New Zealand’s Paul Coll reclaimed the men’s world No 1 spot following the release of the PSA world rankings.
Coll overtook Farag after the latter’s points for the 2021 Oracle NetSuite Open expired, meaning Coll’s ranking points are now higher than Farag’s.
Coll is guaranteed to hold onto the world No 1 spot until 17 October if Farag betters Coll’s results at the upcoming US Open which takes place from 8-15 October at Philadelphia’s Arlen Specter US Squash Center. Then, Farag will recapture his supremacy once again.
The rest of the top five features Egypt’s Mustafa Asal, Peru’s Diego Elias and England’s Mohamed Al-Shorbagi who is of Egyptian origin.
In the PSA women’s world rankings, Egypt kept its first place intact as Nouran Gohar stays at No 1 for a 27th successive week ahead of fellow Egyptians Hania Al-Hammami and Nouran Gohar, with the USA’s Amanda Sobhi and New Zealand’s Joelle King taking the final spots inside the top five.
