Ahly concluded their training Thursday morning in Egypt as they prepare to leave for Tunisia to face US Monastir on Sunday in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.

Ahly players train ahead of US Monastir clash in the CAF Champions League

Ahly crew headed directly to Cairo airport after the end of Thursday's training to start their mission in the CAF Champions League as they face Tunisia's Union Sportive Monastirienne (US Monastir) away from home on Sunday at Mustafa Bin Jannat Stadium.

Ahly winger Ahmed Abdel-Kader announced that they are ready to face US Monastir in a match that marks the beginning of the team's mission in the continental tournament. Abdel-Kader further pointed out that the Red Devils intend to compete fiercely for all the titles in the upcoming season.

The 23-year-old winger said he believed that the match with US Monastir will be far from easy, being no less difficult than any other match in the tournament.

“The opponent has strong motivation to win, especially since they did so well in the Tunisian League. Ahly have the same respect for all opponents in the CAF Champions League, which remains a very important tournament for both players and technical staff ," Abdel-Kader said during an interview with the club’s official website.

"The team intend to get off to an impressive start,” he added.

The Red Devils had had a forgettable season, finishing third in the Egyptian Premier League – their lowest ranking in 30 years.

They also wasted the opportunity to set a new record by winning three consecutive Champions League titles, after losing 2-0 to Morocco's Wydad in the final match, which was played in Casablanca last May.
