Qatari investments in Egypt climbed 74 per cent in the first quarter of 2012, data from the Central Bank of Egypt showed on Sunday.
Investment from the gas-rich emirate climbed to $13.2 million in the period between January and March 2012, up from the $3.4 million it injected into Egypt in the previous three months.
In the immediate aftermath of ex-president Hosni Mubarak's overthrow, Qatar -- the world's richest nation per capita -- said it was prepared to invest $5 billion to $10 billion in various projects to support Egypt's economy and create jobs.
