Egypt will award any Egyptian attaining a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games LE1 million, with LE750.000 for silver and LE500,000 for bronze, Egyptian Olympic Committee president Mahmoud Ahmed Ali told Ahram Online Sunday.

After a meeting with the chairman of the National Sports Council, Emad El-Banani, Ali confirmed that he would do his best with the help of Egyptian businessmen to earmark more money for Egyptian competitors who take part in the 2012 London Games that kick off 26 July.

Egypt will be sending 112 athletes in total to London, the second largest number in the country's history after the 1984 event in Los Angeles, including 34 women.
