Celebrated Hollywood actors' coach Scott Trost to do workshop at Sharm El-Sheikh festival

Renowned American theatre coach and director Scott Trost will hold a workshop during the 7th Sharm El-Sheikh International Theatre Festival for Youth (SITFY)

During the workshop, the director will present the Meisner technique - developed by late American actor and acting teacher Sanford Meisner. The technique constitutes the core of the Meisner Institute (based in the US) where Trost holds the position of Executive Director. 

The institute's graduates include over 35 Hollywood stars, many of them Oscar-winners.

The American coach, director, producer and writer studied theatre with the iconic artist Anthony Hopkins before continuing his education at the Goodman School of Drama in Chicago where he studied various acting techniques developed by different masters such as Stanislavski, Chekhov, Strasberg, Adler, Grotowski, and Alexander. 

The award-winning artist has been teaching acting for over 25 years in numerous countries around the world. 

Trost has acted in multiple stage productions, films and TV shows. 

As an actor, he launched his career with roles in By Dawn's Early Light (1989-1990) and Melrose Place (1991-98).

He then took roles in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1992-99), Murder One (1995-97), Aaron Gillespie Will Make You a Star (1997), with Scott Caan, and Elvis Took a Bullet (2001), to name just a few. 

His most recent roles are those in short films such as The Letter (2017), La Comedia (2017), Purgatory Stories (2019), Terminal (2019), Virtuoso (2020) and A Modelled Life (2021), many of which he also produced.

He co-authored "All you Need to Know about the Movie & TV Business," published by Simon & Schuster in 1996.

Trost also works as an attorney, focusing on victims of domestic violence and asbestos poisoning.

He also produced, directed and wrote several films and plays.

The SITFY festival will also hold a workshop led by renowned Egyptian director Khaled Galal. The workshop will focus on acting and improvisation.

The seventh edition of SITFY is scheduled to take place between 25 and 30 November 2022 in Sharm El-Sheikh.

Held annually, the SITFY is the first of its kind to be organised in Sinai. It was launched to provide opportunities to young theatre practitioners. It also aims to contribute to decentralising the artistic scene and to resuscitate tourism in South Sinai.

The SITFY's founder and president is Mazen El-Gharabawy, with Ingy El-Bastawi as artistic director.
