Future put one foot in the next round when they defeated Kallon 2-0 in first-leg of the second preliminary round, which was played in Liberia last week.

Goals from striker Marwan Mohsen and winger Mostafa El-Badri gave them a comfortable advantage ahead of the second leg.

They host the return leg in Cairo and, barring a huge upset, are likely to ease through and continue their bid to reach the group stage of Africa's secondary club competition on their maiden appearance.

Future will be looking beyond the Kallon tie after signing a host of players in the summer as they seek to improve on their fifth-place finish in the Egyptian Premier League and mount a serious challenge for the Confederation Cup title.

Although star winger Ahmed Refaat joined UAE side Al-Wehda on a season-long loan, they signed several players in similar attacking positions, including Moroccan Abdelkabir El Ouadi and Hesham Adel, who joined from Smouha and Ghazl El-Mahalla respectively.

The new recruits will be available for Future in the Confed Cup third preliminary round, which qualifies for the group stage.
