Egypt drops COVID-19 vaccine mandate for football games

Tazkarti, the Egyptian operator for booking tickets for football games in the country, has announced on Monday it is dropping the requirement for fans to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination to get their Fans ID or tickets for the 2022/23 season.

The company issued an update for its regulations for the new season removing the obligatory vaccination certificate and any age restrictions.

The COVID-19 vaccination mandate has been implemented in October 2021, just before the start of the 2021/22 season, as the government approved a partial return of fans in the stadium.

1000 fans were allowed in 2021/22 and the number will increase to 6000 fans in 2022/23.

“This will be just the start and we hope to increase the number through the season if things go well,” the chief of the Egyptian Premier League Ahmed Diab told a press conference earlier this month

The new season will begin in Egypt on  Tuesday.
