Zamalek defender Salah Soliman says he has recovered from the thigh injury he picked up during a training session with the Egyptian Olympic team, insisting that he will be ready for the anticipated clash against Ahly in the CAF Champions League next week.
"I hope I will be named for the Ahly match to create real solid defence with my teammate Mahmoud Fathallah, hopefully after he recuperates from his [knee] injury on time too," the 22-year-old was quoted as saying by his club’s official website.
Zamalek will lock horns with arch-rivals Ahly on 22 July in the second round of the CAF Champions League group stage. The White Castle lost to Ghana's Chelsea 3-2 in their previous match of the continental championship.
Soliman needed to rest for a fortnight after he had a thigh muscle torn while training with Egypt U-23. The injury cost him a place a in the team taking part in the 2012 London Olympic games, but he is still holding out hope to make the olympic squad.
"I am also dreaming of playing in the 2012 London Olympic games," he said.
For his side, Zamalek assistant coach Ismail Yussif stated that he is waiting for the return of the other Olympic duo; goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shennawy and defender Omar Gaber.
"[Egypt U-23] coach Hany Ramzy promised us that the two youngsters will be back to the club’s trainings before the African match," Yussif said.
