Their concert at Soma Bay is part of their Farewell Tour which, as the name indicates, will be the final appearance of the decade-old famed duo in Egypt.

2Cellos' Egypt performance is scheduled for 18 November, following their appearance in Israel on 17 November. From Egypt, the duo will travel to Dubai (UAE) where they will give a concert on 19 November. The final concerts will then take place in multiple cities in Japan, Australia and New Zealand. The Farewell Tour will end in Auckland on 4 December.

The duo consists of world-admired classically trained cellists, Luka Šulić and Stjepan Hauser. In the tour they will be accompanied by drummer Dusan Kranjc.

In a Zoom interview with Hauser conducted by The Oakland Press earlier this year, the 35-year-old musician revealed that “We both have totally different lifestyles. Luka is more of a family man now – three children, a wife. For him it is basically game over, you know.”

"And me, I am a little bit crazy, full of ideas, ambitions. I just want to keep going, keep conquering the world, playing everywhere, constantly moving around. So we have different approaches to life, and that is why we thought it was best if we each go our own separate ways," Hauser continued.

Known professionally as just Hauser, the Croatian cellist has performed in more than 40 countries in his over two-decades-long sparkling career. His debuts include venues such as Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Southbank Centre and many more.

Born into a musical family and a graduate from Trinity College of Music (now Trinity Laban) London with postgraduate studies at RNCM in Manchester and in USA, Hauser began rising to fame in 2009 when he launched his YouTube channel where he "defies the conventions of the established music business," according to channel.

In 2011, together with a friend and fellow cellist Luka Šulić, he performed a cover of Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal solely on cellos. Their rendition of the well-known track became a breakthrough in both cellists' career and a YouTube sensation. This was soon followed with Hauser and Šulić recording an album 2Cellos with Sony Music Entertainment and hundreds of concerts worldwide.

The duo continued to record albums featuring their take on well-known pop, jazz and classical works, presented with a unique twist. Their albums include In2ition (2013), Celloverse (2015), Score (with the London Symphony Orchestra, 2017) and Let There Be Cello (2019).

Meanwhile, from 2010 on, Hauser released his own nine albums and dozens of singles. In those as well as in live performances, the musician often cooperates with world-renowned soloists, conductors and orchestras:  Mstislav Rostropovich, Bernard Greenhouse, Heinrich Schiff, Frans Helmerson, Arto Noras, Ralph Kirshbaum, Valter Despalj, Philippe Muller, Thomas Demenga, Young-Chang Cho, Reinhard Latzko, Karine Georgian, Roel Dieltiens, and Alexander Ivashkin, to mention a few.

Widely beloved by audiences, Hauser is not afraid to break classical canons with his Cello. But he also remains faithful to his classical education, with a number of appearances and recordings with the renowned orchestras featuring works by the Western classical music composers.

Luka Šulić is a Slovenian-Croatian cellist, born to a family of musicians and music in general.

His career as a solo cellist boasts numerous awards he received at the prestigious international competitions. He won first and special prize at the VII Lutosławski International Cello Competition in Warsaw (2009), first prize at the European Broadcasting Union New Talent Competition (2006) and first prize at the Royal Academy of Music Patron’s Award in Wigmore Hall (2011).

While dedicated to classical music, Šulić remained committed to 2Cellos, a duo that brought him additional fame.

In 2019, two cellists began considering ending their tours together, with Šulić expressing their interest in other independent projects. The decision was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and general paralysis of the international cultural scene.

Tickets for 2Cellos final performance in Egypt can be purchased via TicketsMarche for between EGP 750-7,000.
