Egypt and UAE share common destiny: Sisi on 50th anniversary of bilateral ties

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi said on Thursday that Egypt and the UAE share a common destiny. His remarks came during his reception of Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum at El-Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo.

President Sisi stressed the importance of the historical ties between the two countries, lauding Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid's efforts in support of Egypt.

Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said that during the meeting Al-Maktoum expressed gratitude to President Sisi and the Egyptian people for the warm reception, stressing that the people of the UAE have a special place for Egypt and its people in their hearts.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said “the Egyptian community in the UAE works as a civilizational bridge linking the two brotherly countries.”

Moreover, he expressed appreciation for Egypt's pivotal role in defending Arab issues, and praised the Egyptian political leadership's stances and wise policy both on the domestic and international levels.

On the occasion of the visit, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum wrote on his official Twitter account “The people of Egypt are a loyal people and its leadership is an authentic leadership .. for 50 years they have been with us since the beginning and establishment of our state .. Egypt was and will remain the backer and the stock and the brother that we cannot do without”.  

The Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates' visit to Egypt comes as the two countries mark 50 years of bilateral relations in a three-day celebration, under the slogan “Egypt and the UAE: One Heart”, that takes place Wednesday through Friday.
