“Abdelmonem will train individually after five days and then will rejoin the trainings with his teammates after [another] two weeks,” the doctor was quoted as saying by the club’s official website.

The 23-year-old Mohamed Abdelmonem broke his nose during Friday’s 2-0 win over rivals Zamalek, a victory that guided the Reds to a record-extending 12th Super Cup title.

Ahly denied Zamalek – who won the Egyptian league and cup double in the 2020-21 season – the chance to make it a hat-trick of domestic trophies.

They also made up for a bitter 2-1 loss to Zamalek in the Egypt Cup final last July.

Ahly’s next game will be against Dakhleya on Wednesday in the third round of the Egyptian Premier League.
