Sisi discusses increasing German investments in Egypt with Chancellor Scholz
Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on Tuesday discussed with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz ways to boost German investments in Egypt, especially in the fields of technology localisation, industry and energy like green hydrogen, the Egyptian presidency announced.
The two met on the sidelines of the 2022 UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) being held in the Red Sea city of Sharm El-Sheikh through 18 November.
According to the Egyptian presidency, Scholz asserted that Germany is keen to support Egypt's promising measures to achieve comprehensive development.
The two leaders also met Monday to discuss the latest regional and international developments of common interest in addition to the joint efforts of both countries to support climate action internationally.
According to previous statements by Egyptian officials, the volume of trade exchange between the two countries totalled 5.1 billion Euros in 2021, with German investments in Egypt amounting to about 2.9 billion euros
