The agenda was announced by Sameh Shoukry, Egypt’s foreign minister and COP27 president, during a speech at a roundtable titled 'Fulfilling Promises' held on the sideline of the global climate summit.

The Sharm El-Sheikh Adaptation Agenda is a plan that offers solutions to the obstacles facing climate finance and the implementation of pledges, according to the COP27 president.

The plan is a critical step for pushing forward international climate action, especially with regard to advancing adaptation measures and strengthening resilience against climate change, Shoukry added in his speech.

Shoukry also reiterated the importance of cooperation among the parties concerned with finding solutions with regards to adapting to climate change.

Egypt's COP27 presidency, Shoukry pointed out, seeks to double climate financing to address recent tragic global accidents caused by climate change.

The announced agenda intends to contribute to enhancing the capabilities of some 4 billion people in the societies most impacted by climate change to withstand its repercussions by 2030, Ahmed Abu Zeid, spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a statement.

The agenda represents the first of its kind global plan that brings together the parties concerned with international climate action – be they government or non-government actors – with the aim of defining the necessary measures for adaptation in various top priority spheres, especially food, agricultural, water, oceans, infrastructure, and climate finance, Abu Zeid added.

The second and final day of the World Leaders Summit took place on Tuesday, and it involved several roundtables in which all the parties participated on the sidelines of the two-week global climate gathering.
