During a meeting with US Climate Envoy John Kerry on Thursday, Shoukry said that such consensus on climate issues will develop the abilities of both countries and partners to promote the international climate action agenda, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
During the meeting, Shoukry discussed the ongoing discussions at the conference. He also reviewed with Kerry the official negotiations among various countries and the events held on the fringe of the conference.
Kerry voiced happiness over taking part in various events of COP27, adding that the meeting also discussed the US stance on the items on the agenda of the conference.
Shoukry also noted that the Egyptian presidency of COP27 is pleased with the positivity among delegations to the conference. The presidency, he said, was also pleased to see participants displaying such common resolve to reach an understanding and a consensus on the items scheduled to be discussed on the conference's agenda.
The top Egyptian diplomat affirmed his keenness on listening to all participating parties to crystallise a common stand that strengthens climate action.
COP27, which is held from 6 to 18 November, has seen the participation of dozens of world leaders and heads of state and more than 40,000 participants.
The conference, held under the theme “together for implementation”, concluded its fifth day today with repetitive calls for turning fulfilling climate pledges, ensuring providing climate finance to developing states, and pushing forward climate action collectively
