For more than a hundred years, Al-Ahram newspaper has brought to the fore, not only great journalists, but creative thinkers, novelists and poets. The newspaper is still working hard to adapt to the latest technological developments through its Creators Hub, which trains students from Egyptian universities.
The COP27 Egypt app was launched by the hub in early November.
The app aims to keep participants informed about the conference by providing the latest news, as well as enhance the social experience by allowing users to share stories and post with other attendees
In addition, it has several electronic tools that can be used to enhance and promote climate change issues.
The app also provides access to the Arabic and English version of the Al-Ahram newspaper.
It is available in three languages, English, Arabic and French, and can be downloaded on any mobile device for free from Google Play and Apple’s App store.
Alaa Thabet, Ahram Newspaper’s editor-in-chief, said that the Creators Hub has given students a chance to promote their skills and experience on-the-job success while involved in shared creative efforts.
The project will also help bolster Ahram’s coverage of the event, Thabet added.
The students’ efforts were supported by a number of leading professionals in the field, including Salwa Mahmoud, the ad section head at the school of Applied Arts, Helwan University; Ahmed Ramadan and Mariam Ashraf from Ahram Canadian University; and Abdel-Sadeq Shourbagy, head of the National Press Association.
Mahmoud said the Creators Hub complements universities’ efforts to prepare students to enter the job market by helping them develop practical skills for business.
He praised the project’s backing from the Ahram Establishment, adding that the accomplishment will stay with the students for a long time.
Ramadan highlighted the importance of the project during such a pivotal event, saying that the students had been able to leave their mark and prove that they have the capabilities to cope with the latest technological developments.
Earlier in October, the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology launched the COP27 mobile app to provide participants in the conference with a guide to many services and maps that allow participants to look up places and events at the conference.
