Sisi, Lula discuss boosting economic, trade cooperation between Egypt and Brazil

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi discussed on Tuesday with Brazilian President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva ways to boost economic and trade cooperation between Egypt and Brazil, the Egyptian presidency announced.

President Sisi received a phone call from Brazilian President-elect Lula Da Silva who is currently in Sharm El-Sheikh to participate in COP27.

According to the Egyptian Presidency, President El-Sisi welcomed the Brazilian president-elect’s current participation in COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh, wishing him success in fulfiling the aspirations of the people of Brazil towards development and prosperity.

El-Sisi stated that Egypt values highly its distinguished relations with Brazil, pointing out to the Latin American nation's pioneering development experience and the progress it has made at the economic level.

The president-elect, for his part, thanked  El-Sisi for his generous gesture of congratulating him after his recent victory in Brazil’s presidential election.

He expressed appreciation for the strong ties between the two friendly countries, praising Egypt's tangible progress over the past years in terms of economic reforms and comprehensive development.

Lula said that he was keen to participate in the 2022 UN Climate Change Conference COP27 at the invitation of President Sisi. He also said that he looked forward to developing cooperation between Egypt and Brazil in various fields, especially economy and trade.

During the phone call, the two presidents exchanged views on key files of mutual interest, and discussed prospects for cooperation on promoting global climate action, the Egyptian Presidency said.
