Part of the Hans Zimmer Live tour, the concert will take place on 27 January 2023 at the Coca Cola Arena.
The Hans Zimmer Ensemble will be joined by the grand orchestra in the closing event of the Dubai Shopping Festival, which will take place across the city starting mid-December 2022.
One of the biggest film score icons, the 65-year-old musician won the Academy Award twice – for the 1994 Disney film The Lion King and the 2021 film Dune – and has received 12 Oscar nominations.
In fact, Dune was partly shot in the UAE’s Abu Dhabi.
Zimmer has over 120 awards from numerous internationally acclaimed institutions and film festivals, including Emmy, BAFTA, four Grammy awards, among many others. They are accompanied by 270 nominations for prestigious awards.
Zimmer was also named on the list of Top 100 Living Geniuses by The Daily Telegraph in 2007.
In his over four-decade-long career, Zimmer composed music for 150 films and numerous series.
Born in Germany, Zimmer's career finally kicked off in London in the 1970s when he began playing keyboards and synthesisers with his band.
Zimmer’s compositions started attracting attention of film producers and his major breakthrough came Rain Man (1988), which won four Academy Awards including Best Picture in 1989.
The film scores for Hollywood blockbuster films followed with his signature marking The Lion King (1994), Gladiator (2000), Black Hawk Down and Hannibal (2001), The Last Samurai (2003), Madagascar (2005), The Da Vinci Code (2006), The Simpsons Movie (2007), Kung Fu Panda (2008), John Powell, Angels & Demons (2009), Sherlock Holmes (2009), The Burning Plain (2009), the main theme for the 2016 Netflix production The Crown and Dune (2020), to name but a few.
