The second edition of the RSIFF will run between 1 and 10 December in Jeddah.

The screening of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (The Big-Hearted Will Take the Bride, 1995) is part of the festival's Treasures segment focusing on classic movies. The film will be shown to the public in cinemas on the opening day.

Another Indian film, Shekhar Kapur's romantic comedy What's Love Got to Do with It (2022) will be screened during the opening ceremony.

The 1995 film is directed by Aditya Chopra in his directorial debut and was produced by his father, Yash Chopra.

DDLJ grossed $24.67 million in its first month of release, reaching $35 million before the end of the year. It also grossed additional $6.2 million, making it the highest-grossing Indian film of the year and one of the biggest Bollywood earners of all time.

The film remains the longest-running film in the history of world cinema as it still plays daily in Mumbai.

The musical romance is a typical love story between Simran Singh (Kajol) and Raj Malhorta (Shah Rukh Khan) and is embroidered with Bollywood music and dance.

Shah Rukh Khan, one of India’s top actors, will be honored, with the RSIFF celebrating his over-three-decade-long career in the film industry during which he was featured in more than 100 films.

The festival's press release points to Khan having "crafted an extraordinary career in India and around the world, [and] having earned multiple awards and accolades for his efforts."

Mohammed Al-Turki, CEO of the festival added: “We are thrilled to be honouring Shah Rukh Khan, who is a remarkable talent and global superstar. [He is] one of the most successful icons of Indian cinema and is beloved by audiences around the world."

The RSIFF has announced that it will screen 131 feature films and shorts from 61 countries in 41 languages, including 34 world premieres, 17 Arab premieres and 47 Middle East and North Africa premieres.
