President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi lauded the strong relations between Egypt and Jordan during his meeting with Jordan King Abdullah II in Cairo on Saturday.

Al-Sisi added that Egypt is looking forward to enhancing bilateral relations for the benefit of the two countries and their peoples and within the framework of the trilateral cooperation mechanism with Iraq, particularly at the economic and trade fronts.

King Abdullah II expressed Jordan’s appreciation for Egypt at the official as well as popular levels, stressing that it also values the longstanding bonds it shares with Egypt and the progress in their relations.

To boost trilateral relation, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri attended the tripartite cooperation meeting with his Iraqi and Jordanian counterparts in Amman on Tuesday. The three diplomats discussed the various cooperation projects in various fields.

The meeting also touched on the present regional and global situation and coordination among the three states to face the consequent challenges in addition to efforts to resolve the present crises and maintain peace and security, as a statement issued by the Foreign ministry read.

A trilateral strategic partnership has emerged between Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq more than three years ago. The leaders of the three countries have collectively met four times since then to discuss the establishment of a variety of strategic multilateral projects.

Iraq hosted the first round of talks in Baghdad in June 2021— an occasion that witnessed the first visit of an Egyptian head of state to the country in more than 30 years.
