The draw, which was held at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, put both teams in Group C, alongside heavyweights Togo’s ASKO de Kara and Morocco’s AS FAR.

Earlier in November, Egyptian representatives in Africa's secondary club competition Pyramids FC and Future FC secured their place in the competition’s Group stage after defeating Nigelec and Primeiro de Agosto respectively.

Pyramids FC, who are participating in their fourth Confederation Cup, overturned their 1-0 loss against Nigelec in the first leg to claim an easy 3-0 victory at home to go through to the next round with a 3-1 win on aggregate.

Meanwhile, Future FC, who are making their first ever appearance in the tournament, completed passage to the group stage after defeating Angolan side Primeiro de Agosto 3-2 on shoot-out. Future earned a positive result in the first leg with a 1-1 away draw.

The first round of the group stage will be held on 12 February, the second on 19 February, the third on 26 February, the fourth on 8 March, the fifth on 19 March and the sixth on 2 April.
