"El-Gebaly will visit Qatar on Tuesday in response to an invitation from Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, speaker of the Consultative Assembly of Qatar," the delegation said a press statement.

"Parliamentary relations between Egypt and Qatar will top the agenda of Gebaly's talks in Doha," said the statement.

Informed sources told Ahram Online that El-Gebaly is expected to meet with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and also hold meetings with other senior Qatar officials.

El-Gebaly's visit to Qatar is the first for the speaker of parliament after the return of diplomatic relations between the two countries following the Al-Ula agreement last year, which ended more than three years of rupture between the two countries.

It also comes less than two months after President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi two-day visit to Doha to discuss economic cooperation between the two countries with Emir Tamim.

In June, Emir Tamim visited Cairo to hold discussions with the Egyptian president on a variety of issues of mutual concern.

In March, Qatar announced that it will invest $5 billion in Egypt in a sign of warming relations between the countries.
