The conference seeks to build on the outcomes of the first session held in August 2021 and discusses ways to enhance constructive dialogue to solve the problems in the region, Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement on Tuesday.

The event also aims to create conditions conducive to establishing partnership, cooperation and economic integration between Iraq and neighbouring countries.

President El-Sisi's participation in Baghdad conference reflects Egypt's support for Iraq to return to its active and balanced role at the regional level, and its keenness to ensure its security and stability, Rady added.

El-Sisi is set to hold a series of side meetings with leaders participating in the conference, including with Jordanian King Abdullah II to exchange views on ways of strengthening bilateral relations at all levels and continuing consultations on issues of common concern.

The second edition of Baghdad Conference will see the participation of a number of leaders and representatives of countries and regional organisations, from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Iran, according to Jordan Times.

The secretary general of the Arab League, secretary general of the Gulf Cooperation Council, representatives from the UN, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the EU will also take part in the conference, it added.

Last year's conference witnessed the participation of leaders and representatives of Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE, in addition to Iran, Turkey and France.

The conference aimed at supporting the security and stability of Iraq and pushing forward development process.

Following the conference, El-Sisi will also participate in a tripartite summit with both Jordan's King and the Iraq's newly appointed Prime Minister Mohamed Shia El-Sudani.

The summit aims to deepen relations between the three countries, noted the statement.
