Ittihad highlighted the announcement via several social media posts, including a video that showed Hegazi signing the new deal while donning a club shirt with "2026" written on its back.

"Hegazi remains a tiger," read a caption on the video.

The towering central defender said he was delighted to have prolonged his stay in Jeddah.

"The moment when I signed for Ittihad, the fans' reception and my first goal -- I can never forget all of those moments," he said.

"Since my first day here, I have felt at home. Today, we will complete our journey together."

Hegazi has been a key member of Ittihad's squad since joining from then English Premier League club West Bromwich in October 2020.

The former Ismaily and Ahly defender helped the Tigers mount a serious challenge for the league title last season but they faltered in the latter stages, with Al Hilal clinching the title for a second straight time.

The 31-year-old has played eight matches with Ittihad so far this season, scoring two goals.
