Designed by Kirolos Maximus, the poster portrays a girl in wrap sheet, a costume that Bahari girls were famous for in the past.

“Because the Mediterranean's Bride is the beacon of Egyptian culture and the source of antiquity and authenticity, the wrap sheet moved from Alexandria to spread throughout Egypt; hence, it was the festival's choice for the poster to link the past with the present and confirm Alexandria's leadership in spreading culture and art in the world,” stated the festival organisers who revealed the poster.

“The Alexandrian girl in the poster combines lightness, beauty and pampering, as well as being strong, self-reliant and well-doing,” they added.

The Alexandria Short Film Festival is a grassroots youth initiative founded in 2015 by Mohamed Mahmoud with Mohamed Saadoun and Mony Mahmoud as president, director and artistic director, respectively. The annual event is organised through the Arts’ Circle (Dayret Al-Fann) Association.

The main awards of the festival are the Golden and Silver Hypatia, named for the Greek philosopher, astronomer and mathematician who lived in Alexandria.

It is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Tourism Promotion Authority.
