“I just want to repay the people for how welcoming they have been. The warmth they have shown me and my family has been remarkable,” Savio told FIFA official website.

“They have made me feel so at home. I know how much football means to them, so I am determined to help make them proud at this Club World Cup,” he added.

“I have only been here a few months, but it has been incredible. I hope this is just the start. I hope to have many great experiences with Al Ahly, to win many titles,” the Brazilian forward said.

The Cairo giants signed the Brazilian winger from Bolivia's Club Bolivar on a three-year contract last summer.

“I want to go down in the history of this club. Ahly have such an immense history – so many titles, so many great players – and I would love to make myself a little part of it.” Savio said.

Egyptian giants Ahly have drawn to face Auckland City of New Zealand in the preliminary round of the FIFA Club World Cup 2023 that will take place in Morocco 1-11 February.

Ahly were granted a spot in the competition despite finishing as runners-up in the African Champions League last season, taking advantage of the selection of Morocco as the host country.

“Without any doubt, every competition we go into with the intention of becoming champions. At this club you cannot think any other way,” Savio said.

“Obviously, there are other great teams in our way – you have Flamengo and Real Madrid among others – but it is 11 against 11 and who plays better on the day wins,” he added.

“Is it difficult [to beat those teams]? Of course, but it is possible, definitely. We will go into the competition with humility, taking it game by game, taking every opponent very seriously, but our target is to win the title,” the Brazilian footballer said.
