Zamalek's newly appointed coach Ossama Nabih announced Friday that he is confident in his players’ ability to return to their winning ways after a month-long streak of defeats and draws in the Egyptian Premier League this season.

“We want the team to return to their winning ways. I have confidence in the players’ ability to recover from the recent poor results. They are the same players who won the two league titles in the previous two seasons,” Nabih told Zamalek TV.

The White Knights appointed Ossama Nabih, 48, as new coach on Tuesday after they parted-ways with Portuguese coach Jesualdo Ferreira who had dismissed Nabih as his assistant only two weeks ago.

Zamalek are scheduled to face runners up Future FC in the 16th matchday of the Egyptian Premier League on Sunday.

“It is a great chance for Zamalek to return to their winning ways against a big team like Future FC as our target is to regain our performance step by step,” added the Zamalek coach, who previously served as an assistant coach for the Pharaohs in the 2018 World Cup.

Under the helm of Portuguese coach Jesualdo Ferreira, Zamalek failed to achieve victory in their last five league games since the start of the new year, losing 1-2 to Aswan, drawing 1-1 with Dakhleya and drawing 0-0 with Ittihad of Alexandria before losing 0-3 to arch-rivals Ahly and 1-2 to Ghazl El-Mahalla.

They also exited the Egypt Cup semis after losing to Pyramids FC on penalties.

Zamalek are now fifth in the league table with 26 points, 11 points behind leaders Ahly.
