“We concluded the deal with the Algerian team ES Sétif to sign Kendouci thanks to the bilateral relationship between the two club’s managements,” Amir Tawfik, who oversees Ahly's signings, said in a statement.

The 23-year-old international attacking midfielder is part of the Algerian national team squad in the 2022 African Nations Championship, known as CHAN 2022, which is taking place in Algeria from 13 January to 4 February 2023.

Kendouci made 122 appearances with ES Sétif, scoring 22 goals and providing 19 assists.

The Algerian star is expected to boost Ahly’s midfield alongside Hamdi Fathi, Malian Aliou Dieng, Amr El Sulaya and newly signed Marwan Atteya.

It is not clear whether the player will be available for Ahly in the FIFA Club World Cup that kicks off on 1 February in Morocco, as he is on national team duty.

The player was reportedly in advanced talks with Zamalek over the past few days before switching his destination.

Kendouci is Ahly's fourth January signing following Atteya, Khaled Abdel-Fattah and Mohamed Dhaoui.

Ahly haven't wrapped up their transfers as the Cairo giants are still in the market for a striker which may come in the next few days.
