Both sides failed to earn the lead in the first two extra-times. They had to play another two extra times before the Pharaohs won the game 36-35 after a heroic performance from substitute keeper Mohamed Ali who rescued his side with many saves.
Egypt, who lost in the quarters to hosts Sweden, missed out on the chance for playing for the fifth place after losing to Germany 34-35 after extra-times.
Egypt’s last participation at the World Championship saw the Pharaohs finish seventh in Cairo.
