Hussein El-Shahat opened the scoring, just before the break, while striker Mohamed Sherif added the second, three minutes before the hour-mark.
Substitute forward Percy Tau made it 3-0, four minutes from time to confirm the win.
Occasions were few in the first half that saw striker Mohamed Sherif squander two occasions in the 6th and 40th minutes respectively.
Five minutes later, winger Hussein El-Shahat put his side ahead with a powerful shot from outside the area just before heading to the locker room.
The second half saw a complete domination from the Egyptian giants. The New Zealand side seemed unable to create any threat.
Ahly needed only 12 minutes to add the second, thanks to Mohamed Sherif who received a nice pass from Hamdi Fathi to fire home from a close range.
After the goal, Ahly’s wonderful show continued. They came close to adding the third on three occasions, but Sherif, El-Shahat and Abdel-Qader squandered easy occasions.
After securing the win, Ahly coach Marcel Koller gave the chance to Mahmoud ‘Kahraba, Abdel-Moneim, Marwan Attiya, Taher Mohamed Taher, Percy Tau and finally Mohamed ‘Afsha’ Magdi.
Kahraba cleared Tau with a back pass that enabled the South African forward to add the third easily through a nice curling shot from the right flank.
Tau was close on scoring again in injury time, but his effort was blocked by the keeper.
The dying minutes saw the referee award a penalty for Ahly after a foul on Taher. He, however, reveresed the decision after checking the VAR and sent off Auckland defender Adam Mitchell.
