Thurs 16, 7pm (free entrance): Aida Pocket opera is an innovative version of Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpiece, a show addressed to the youth. The opera, in a format of an hour and forty-minute performance, aims to introduce new generations to Aida as a spectacle of music and performing art, which has become to form an integral part of the Egyptian culture. The work is an entirely Italian production designed by the Italian maestro Elio Orciuolo and talented Director Davide Raimondi Garattini, with the participation of Italian and Egyptian singers as well as Italian and Egyptian musicians and ballet dancers.
It features four main singers in the role of Aida, soprano Maria Jelic, the role of Amneris, the mezzo-soprano, Irene Molinari, the role of the Radames, Dario Di Vietri and the role of Amonasro, the baritone Piero Terranova. The orchestra consists of 16 Egyptian and Italian musicians, with the presence of maestro Carmine Colangeli, former Choir Director at the Cairo Opera House.
