The comedians will bring authentic, personal, and relevant stories to an Arabic speaking audience, with shows in a variety of dialects and narratives.
According to the producers of the show, Stand Up! Ya Arab! was created with the idea of showcasing and discovering emerging Arab stand-up talents.
Over the past decade, stand up comedy has become increasingly popular across the Arab region with many local talents starting to emerge. Some of them make their first steps at a variety of TEDx Talks, events dedicated to comedy and on their YouTube channels, among other events.
Some comedians are bi-lingual and made their careers outside the Arab world but others perform in Arabic only and focus on the local audiences.
The most famous names from the region include Egyptian-American comedian Ahmed Ahmed, Palestinian comedian Maysoon Zayid, Egyptian Eman Morgan, Jordanian Rawsan Hallak and Omar Ramzi, a Saudi-based Sudanese comedian, among others.
Egypt has their own share of talents who perform across numerous venues in Cairo and Alexandria, such as Art Room Space, Zed Park etc. Some locations organise stand up comedy competitions to encourage the young talents in their personal growth.
Stand Up! Yalla Arab! episodes will be presented throughout the month of Ramadan that starts on 22 March and continues until 20 April.
The episodes will be aired on linear channels OSN Yahala and OSN Comedy, and stream exclusively on OSN+.
