Les Chenilles, which premiered during the prestigious event, is written by Michelle Keserwany and stars Masa Zaher and Noel Keserwany.
The 30-minute feature is about exploitation and female solidarity, friendship and solace, through the story of Asma and Sarah who meet while working as waitresses in France.
Karim Ghorayeb is the film’s director of photography, while Konstantin Bock is the editor.
The film was selected by a jury of internationally-acclaimed members.
The members of the jury included Cătălin Cristuțiu, Sky Hopinka and Isabelle Stever.
The Silver Bear Award went to Marungka tjalatjunu (Dipped in Black), by Matthew Thorne and Derik Lynch.
The Jury made a Special Mention for ‘It’s a Date’, by Nadia Parfan.
As part of the Panorama Programme, Yemeni film Al Murhaqoon (The Burdened), from director Amr Gamal, won two awards: the Amnesty International Film Award and second prize of the Audience Award.
