A goal by Tunisian forward Fakhreddine Ben Youssef was enough for Pyramids FC to beat Togolese side ASKO de Kara 1-0 on Sunday at home in the Confederation Cup group stage.

The towering striker met a pinpoint cross from veteran playmaker Abdallah El-Said with a glancing header to score the winner in the 29th minute.

The Egyptian side were desperate for win to improve their situation in the Group following two frustrating draws.

They opened their group stage campaign with a 2-2 draw at home to Moroccan side FAR Rabat before being held to another 1-1 draw by fellow Egyptian side Future FC.

Sunday’s win helped Pyramids FC top Group D with five points, one point ahead of FAR Rabat who will face Future FC later on the day.

The hosts wasted a number of easy goalscoring chances and seemed content with their narrow win.

Pyramids FC will face ASKO de Kara again in Togo on the 8 March.
