Swiss coach Marcel Koller said that Ahly have a great squad and won’t be affected by the big number of injuries when they face Cameroon’s Coton Sport in the CAF Champions League group stage on Saturday at Al Salam Stadium.

“I don’t think that Ahly will be affected by the absence of injured players. We have great players in our squad. Plus, Bruno Savio and Ayman Ashraf have returned to trainings,” Koller told the pre-game press conference on Friday.

The Cairo giants will miss the services of a number of injured players - Hussein Al-Shahat, Mahmoud Metwally, Amr El-Sulaya, Ahmed Abdel-Kader and Khaled Abdel-Fattah - when they face the Cameroonian side on Saturday.

They need a win over the Cameroonian side in the postponed game from the first round of the group stage in order to keep their hopes in marching on in the continental tournament alive.

The Cairo giants are currently third in Group B with one point after two games.

South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns lead the group with seven points and Sudan's Al-Hilal are in second place with six points - both after three games.

The 10-time African Champions opened their campaign in the CAF Champions League group stage with a 1-0 away loss to Al-Hilal of Sudan before they drew 2-2 with Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.

“We didn’t achieve the best result against Sundowns. But we still have four games in the group stage. We will concentrate on winning them,” the Swiss coach added.

Ahly’s talented winger Mahmoud 'Kahraba' Abdel-Moneim will also reportedly miss the game against Cotton Sport due to fatigue.

“We will determine Kharaba’s situation during today’s training session,” Koller said.

Coton Sport are currently bottom of the group without any points also after two games.
