This marks Tau's return to the national team after a nine-month absence due to injuries.
The 28-year-old, Tau scored one of Ahly’s goals in a heavy 5-2 defeat against Sundowns in the CAF Champions League.
South Africa's coach, Hugo Broos, initially announced a list of 35 players for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, with Tau leading the pack. However, the list was later reduced to 24 players, with Pyramids' striker Fagrie Lakay being excluded.
South Africa are set to face Liberia on March 24 in Johannesburg, followed by another match in Liberia on the 28th of the same month.
Fans are excited to see what Tau can bring to the national team, and many are hoping that his return will boost South Africa's chances in the upcoming qualifiers.
This season, Tau has played in 17 matches for Ahly in three different tournaments, scoring four goals.
