Classic puppet show El-Leila El-Kebeira is being stages as part of Hal Helalak programme
Organised by the Ministry of Culture, the two-week event runs until Thursday 13 April and combines various artistic activities.
Hal Helalak’s programme rotates between a children's painting workshop, a circus light show, the classic puppet show El-Leila El-Kebira and folk dance shows.
All Hal Helalak events start after 8:30pm, almost two hours after sunset when Muslims break their long day of fasting, and are free to attend.
Other Ramadan programmes at the Cairo Opera House include concerts by Medhat Saleh, Ali El-Haggar, Dina El-Wedidi as well as chanting Sufi performers and bands including Sheikh Yassin El-Tohamy, El-Hadra, the Mawaweel Band and others.
Some of the culture ministry's cultural palaces are also hosting several workshops, folk performances and other activities in several governorates.
